Violations and JavaScript Errors Dashboard

Use this dashboard to monitor violationsClosed Any activity that impacts, or has the potential to impact, user experience. and JavaScript errorsClosed JavaScript Errors occur when a browser can't execute some portion of your JavaScript, either due to a syntax or a runtime error., and to diagnose which resources and third parties are causing problems on your site’s pages. By default, the page shows data from the past seven days. To change the time period, click the calendar icon in the top right corner. To refresh the data, click the refresh icon .

Select any of the top data boxes to filter the dashboard by that type of violation or by JavaScript errors.

Page Delay Violations

Displays the average number of page delay violationsClosed When a resource that loads before onload takes longer than a set number of milliseconds to load. per page for the past seven days or the selected period.

Performance Violations

Displays the average number of performance riskClosed When a resource that loads after onload takes longer than a set number of milliseconds to load. Does not delay page load time, but can affect functionality. per page for the past seven days or the selected period.

Size Violations

Displays the average number of size violationsClosed When a resource, usually an image, is larger than a set number of kilobytes. per page for the past seven days or the selected period

Load Failure Violations

Displays the average number of load failure violationsClosed When a resource fails to load in the browser. per page for the past seven days or the selected period.

JavaScript Errors

Displays the average number of JavaScript errorsClosed JavaScript Errors occur when a browser can't execute some portion of your JavaScript, either due to a syntax or a runtime error. per page for the last seven days or the selected period. JavaScript errors can occur anywhere on your site and are not always caused by third parties.

Key Insights

The tables change based on the data box you select above. See the average number of the selected violations caused by each third party, as well as the average number of violations on various devices, browsers, and page categories.

Trends

Use the trends graphs to monitor your site performance and identify problem areas. Use the drop-down menus to change the metric, filter, and rollup data. You can compare violations and JavaScript errors trends with performance trends to better understand how they are affecting your site.

The Real-time Data graph shows data in one-minute increments and updates every 15 minutes. By default, the graph shows the past hour. Use the drop-down menu to select a different hour. Use this graph to see how recent changes are affecting your site.

Diagnostics

This section shows data for the past 24 hours, regardless of the date filter selected at the top of the page, with the following exceptions: JavaScript error data covers the last 72 hours; page delay violation, performance violation, size violation, and load failure violation data cover the last 6 hours; resource-level data covers the last 6 hours.

Use the first drop-down menu to select the metric, and the second to select the table. The following options are available: 

Most Viewed Pages Shows the most viewed pages with the selected violation type.
Top Resources Shows the resources that are causing the highest amount of the selected violation type.
Most Recent Violations Shows the most recent selected violation type, including information about the device and browser the violations occurred on, the URL of the resource that caused the violation, and the page the violation occurred on.
Top Error Messages Shows the most common JavaScript error messages (only displays when you select JavaScript Errors in the first drop-down menu).

Page Delay Violations Caused by Resource

Shows detailed information about each violation caused by the selected resource over the past hour, including the device type, browser, and timing metrics.

  1. Under Diagnostics, in the drop-down menus, select Resources Causing and select the desired metric.

  2. Click a resource URL and click Latest Page Delay Violations From This Resource.

Most Viewed Pages Affected by Resource

Shows the most viewed pages where the selected resource is causing violations or JavaScript errors.

  1. Under Diagnostics, in the drop-down menus, select Resources Causing and select the desired metric.

  2. Click a resource URL and click Pages Affected by This Resource.

Resources Affecting [Page URL]

Shows the resources that have caused violations or JavaScript errors on the selected page over the past hour.

  1. Under Diagnostics, in the drop-down menus, select Most Viewed Pages With and select the desired metric.

  2. Click a page URL and click Resources Affecting This Page.

Page Delay Violations on [Page URL]

Shows detailed information about the latest violations or JavaScript errors on the selected page over the past hour.

  1. Under Diagnostics, in the drop-down menus, select Most Viewed Pages With and select the desired metric.

  2. Click a page URL and click Latest Page Delay Violations on This Page.
